Shipping Your Frames Safely | How to Pack Glasses for Lens Replacement

How to Ship Your Glasses Safely (So They Arrive Protected)

Shipping your glasses is simple — as long as they’re packed correctly. The goal is to prevent bending, crushing, and lens scratching during transit. Use the steps below to protect your frames and help ensure a smooth lens replacement process.

Most shipping damage happens from poor packaging — not the carrier. A few extra minutes of packing makes a big difference.

What You’ll Need

  • A hard glasses case (preferred) or a sturdy protective case
  • Soft tissue / microfiber cloth (to prevent rubbing)
  • Bubble wrap or packing paper
  • A small sturdy box (not an envelope)
  • Shipping tape

Step-by-Step: Best Way to Pack Your Glasses

Step 1: Clean and prepare the glasses

Lightly wipe off dust and debris. If your lenses are heavily scratched, don’t over-clean — just remove loose debris. Fold the temples (arms) carefully.

Step 2: Protect the lenses and frame

Place a microfiber cloth or soft tissue between the lenses and the frame area where they might rub. This reduces scratch risk during transit.

Step 3: Use a hard case (recommended)

Put the glasses into a hard case. If you don’t have one, wrap the glasses in multiple layers of bubble wrap until they feel firm and protected.

Step 4: Cushion the case inside a box

Place the hard case (or wrapped glasses) into a sturdy box with cushioning around it so it cannot move. Fill empty space with bubble wrap or packing paper.

Step 5: Seal the box securely

Tape all seams well. The box should feel tight and protected with no rattling inside.

What NOT to Do

  • Do not ship glasses in an envelope or flat mailer
  • Do not ship without padding (frames can bend easily)
  • Do not ship with loose movement inside the box
  • Do not ship with heavy items in the same box

Extra Tips for Fragile Frames

Some frames need extra protection during shipping, including:

  • Rimless frames
  • Semi-rimless frames
  • Thin metal frames
  • Wrap sports frames
  • Older frames with worn hinges

For these, use a hard case plus extra cushioning and choose a sturdy box.

Include Your Order Info

To avoid delays, include any order details requested during checkout (or follow the shipping instructions on your order page). Clear identification helps match your frames to your order quickly.
