Frame Handling & Liability
When you send your frames to RenewLens, our technicians handle them carefully at every stage of the lens replacement process. Before any work begins, your frame is visually inspected for:
- Structural condition and tightness of parts
- Signs of age, stress, or previous repairs
- Material type and heat sensitivity
- Overall suitability for new lenses
If we see anything that suggests a higher risk of damage (such as brittleness, cracks, loose solder joints, or stressed plastic), we may contact you before proceeding or, in some cases, decline service for your protection.
Despite careful handling and the use of industry-standard techniques, installing new lenses always involves applying pressure, heat, or adjustment to the frame. Older, heavily worn, previously repaired, or lower-quality frames are more likely to crack, chip, or break during normal processing. These issues are often due to age or manufacturing quality and cannot always be detected in advance.
By placing an order with RenewLens and sending us your frame, you acknowledge and accept the following:
- Inherent Risk Some level of risk is present in all lens replacement work, especially with older, fragile, or previously damaged frames.
- Limitations of Liability If a frame is damaged due to pre-existing weakness, hidden defects, age, material limitations, or prior repairs, RenewLens is not responsible for the cost of the frame or any associated loss. Our responsibility is limited to the services and lenses we provide.
- If Your Frame Breaks During Processing
- Return your lenses and broken frame to you, or
- Offer options for purchasing a replacement frame that can be fitted with your lenses (when feasible). Replacement frames are not guaranteed or included in the cost of lens replacement unless specifically stated.
- Adjustments After You Receive Your Glasses
If your frame cracks or breaks while we are working on it, we will notify you as soon as possible. When available, we may:
Minor adjustments may be needed after you receive your completed glasses. Any adjustments performed by a third party (such as a local optical shop) are outside of our control. RenewLens is not liable for damage that occurs during adjustments performed elsewhere.
Our goal at RenewLens is to treat your eyewear with the same care you do while being transparent about the real-world limits of older and worn frames. If you have concerns about the condition of your frame, we recommend contacting us before placing your order so we can help you decide whether lens replacement is appropriate
