Can XTRActive Polarized Be Added to Existing Lenses?
No—not to prescription lenses that have already been manufactured. XTRActive Polarized is part of a newly made light-adaptive lens. It is not a treatment that can simply be applied later to finished lenses.
If you already have glasses you like, that does not mean you need a completely new pair. In many cases, you can keep the existing frame, remove the old lenses, and have new XTRActive Polarized prescription lenses made to fit that frame.

Can You Add Progressive Lenses to Existing Glasses?
Yes—by replacing the current lenses. A progressive design cannot be added to a finished lens that is already in the frame. Instead, a new pair of progressive prescription lenses is manufactured for the compatible frame.
XTRActive Polarized may be available with eligible progressive lens designs. The progressive design provides distance, intermediate, and near vision; the XTRActive Polarized technology controls how the lens responds to changing light and outdoor glare.
Replacing existing progressives
If you already wear progressives and want a new prescription or a new light-adaptive option, the old lenses can be removed and replaced while keeping a compatible frame.
Changing from single vision to progressive
A compatible frame may also be used for a new progressive prescription when the frame size, measurements, prescription, and selected design are suitable.
What Is Dynamic Polarization in Glasses?
Dynamic polarization means the polarization develops as the lenses activate outdoors. XTRActive Polarized lenses are not fixed polarized sunglasses. Their tint and polarization behavior changes with the light environment.
Clear with a hint of tint
The lenses remain relatively light indoors and are not polarized indoors.
Darkens in the car
The lenses can darken behind a standard windshield, but they are not classified as polarized behind the windshield.
Extra dark + dynamically polarized
Outdoors in activating light, the lenses become darker and dynamic polarization develops as activation increases.
Photochromic performance varies with UV exposure, visible light, temperature, lens material, product configuration, and other conditions. Darkness and fade-back are not identical in every environment.

How Do XTRActive Polarized Lenses Work in the Car?
A windshield blocks much of the ultraviolet light that activates many conventional photochromic lenses. XTRActive products are designed to respond to additional light conditions, so they can darken to some degree behind the windshield.
For XTRActive Polarized, it is important to separate darkening from polarization: the lenses can darken in the car, but their dynamic polarization benefit develops outdoors rather than being classified as polarized behind the windshield.
